We get asked a lot about best practices to get the most out of your self storage but also how to keep your items as safe from damage as possible, below is a list of tips everyone should find helpful
Getting the most $ value out of your Unit
- Label your boxes appropriately either by room or type of contents
- When stacking your Unit, line the walls with bulkier items so you can store smaller boxes on top of these. Be careful not to stack heavy boxes on fragile items.
- Make as much use of the height of the Unit as you can by stacking to the ceiling, however ensure the stacks and stable and wont’ fall.
- Stand up larger items vertically when its safe to do so, this will use a much smaller footprint of your Unit
- Disassemble furniture whenever its possible and convenient

Protecting items while they are in storage
- Use new storage boxes, not old ones that may fall apart
- Don’t overfill boxes and make them too heavy / unsafe for moving
- Make sure to bubble wrap fragile items
- Never lay-down mirrors or art works
- Cover all furnishings or mattresses with protective materials
- Remove batteries from all electronics
- Make sure there is no residual moisture in appliances / whitegoods
- Drain the fuel from any motorised equipment
